Address to the ladies-wives of the veterans in the G.A.R. rooms, St. Albans. 1998.

Consists of a transcription of a first-hand account that Mr. Brainerd gave to an assembly of the G.A.R. in St. Albans, Vermont, in 1895. This address recalled an incident during the Civil War; Brainerd's identification of an old friend, Amherst Stone, as a spy, or at least a Northerner working for the Confederate cause. Brainerd tells the story of his suspicions, the arrest, names names, and then relates what happens when the two men and their wives meet again after the war.
